2/10- Unsatisfactory

General Features
On paper, they offer all the bells and whistles. In real life, they fail to come through in many ways. I have used their services since 2005 and was always happy with them. Sometime last year they changed ownership and it has been a nightmare dealing with them ever since.

Reliability
Unreliable. FTP becomes unavailable for days on end without being able to reach anyone for support. Files mysteriously disappear from the server and no one takes responsibility. They backup files too infrequently.

Customer Support
It is a stretch to call what they have “customer support.” They have a phone number, but no one is ever available to talk to you. Theoretically have a Live Chat function, but it is rarely available. They insist on submitting issues through a ticket system, but days can pass before anyone pays any attention.

Pricing
Their pricing would be OK except for the fact that their service is so abysmal.

Bandwidth (Data Transfer) : Adequate

The Good
It is hard to find anything good to say.

The Bad
I have had some really awful experiences with Websitesource. Recently, I was updating a dynamic site and was working with my programmer on the content management system and database. On Saturday night, all our files were in place. By Sunday morning, a random selection of files had simply disappeared. Unfortunately, neither of us had a backup of the missing files and couldn’t really tell which files had vanished. Websitesource claimed no responsibility for botching up our data even though there is no other explanation for where the files went. They charged me $150 to restore from a backup that was at least 2 weeks old (that’s how frequently they do backup). Just in the past few days, I have discovered that my shared hosting sight and another site that I maintain is suddenly inaccessible by FTP. I can’t upload or download or connect to any of the sites on these servers. I have posted 4 trouble tickets over the last few days and no one has responded at all. And there is no other way to reach them.

My opinion
I would absolutely NOT recommend them.
