I've been hosting at Host Dime for a month now after sign on to their annual subscription. I'm currently hosting as their lowest plan since I also have another host as mentioned. This plan limits you to one domain but supposedly unlimited bathwidth and disk space.

It might not show as a full month because it was previously http://www.yourparentingcommunity.com but they kindly switched the domains as I requested

Pros:
Their customer service is excellent and very prompt. They are very helpful and friendly willing to help you. I like how they have a live chat where you can approach easily whenever you need it no matter what time of day it was. Even if it was 1 am my time in Vancouver they still had someone on the line.
And this wasn't the usual crap you'd get. These are helpful informative assistance and they actually have the capability to help you they won't redirect you back and forth. One example of this is when I needed to change the primary domain hosted on my account I had it completed right on the chat. Some hosting company may outsource their service which would affect the quality but I can see that Host Dime value their customers and most probably host their service on their own.

I also like the reliability knowing they aren't those companies that run by night but have been there for many years with a good reputation especially on this forum. Sense of Security is what most people look for and from my time with them and the research I did on this forum and around previously I can say that I have that sense of seucurity in their hosting.

Cons:
With every hosting there's going to be come cons and this is no exception although the cons aren't very obvious it is still evident.

The first issue comes with their hosting plans. It is advertised as unlimited however I feel that's a bit deceiving since no one could offer unlimited without overselling or strings attach. However to give them credit many other reliable webhosting have such hosting plans as well such as Host Gator so I guess that shouldn't discredit them but I tend to prefer to know the space I'm limited to instead of having it mask as unlimited.

Secondly I have to be honest their server speed isn't the best. It's been a bit slow and it takes very long to host my sites which is the main reason why I've hosted my primary sites with other hosting. Please take a comparasion with the following sites:

Both site are hosting with Joomla 1.5 the only difference is goodfood goodhealth is fully developed with content, design and the works but the absolute ultimate is more of just my blank page to put sales pitches on. The template is the standard default template and the content is fully text. However despite this my goodfood goodhealth site still loads faster by a couple of seconds.

I've been with Hostdime for years. About 5 or 6 I think. I reckon they're expensive but you get what you pay for. here's how they have held on to me so long.

24 hour service and I mean SERVICE. There have been many times there were technical issues with one or more of my sites I just couldn't fix. I had no tech on hand so i called them up (yes you can speak to a real person anytime of day or night without having a ticket in queue) and the techs worked on and fixed database problems, php issues, html conflicts and who knows what all else? never a complaint or the obligatory "we don't do that."

Payment - awhile back I had some financial problems. Lost customers like they were cheap watches. I called and related my fear thinking I would just move to another cheaper company. They lowered my rate to accomodate my lesser income without taking away anything I was paying for before.

Late Payment - it's never a good idea to not pay your bill on time but stuff does happen. I found a simple phone call sufficed and I was never dunned or threatened. They never made me come up with excuses or put me in a position of embarrassment. The squeaky wheel doesn't always get the grease. They went to the top of my list where they've remained.

Security - For whatever reason hackers just love me. Hostdime offers the same basic security as any host but for me (without hesitation) they worked diligently to find the holes and risks in my site and fixed them for me. They never said, "it wasn't on our end." They just found out how I was hacked and fixed it for me. Even when it meant editing code and modules within my own sites. With my permission of course. no extra cost to me.

I have no vested interest in the company. They have no idea I've written this. I doubt they even know who I am. I just feel like stand up people should get a stand up review... no strings attached.

Yes, this is a recommendation.
