After 6 months of hosting my website with Gate.com I am moving to another host. My site has been constantly down, sometimes up to 4 hours, due to failures of their UPS system. When I asked the them when would the problem be rectified they told me it would not take long, but again and again I have been left waiting and waiting. It didn't happen only to my site but all of their customers' sites too. This is a terrible host. Stay far far away from them!

I had a Windows VPS from Gate.com - I run my own Linux servers but only needed to host a few accounts under Windows.

When I logged in to Plesk I got: "Service is not available now, probably your Plesk is misconfigured.
Contact Your provider for details" So I contacted Gate.com since I couldn't do much with this error!

They emailed back a few hours later saying they were able to access it, and asked me if I was still having problems. Same ticket number, etc. I replied and said cool - but it is not working for me or my clients. They finally emailed back and said it was working for them.

What I didn't know was that each email they sent me cost $15. You'll note there were three on the same issue, each a single sentence.

Gate.com had secretly booked $45 in charges on my Amex. Worse, they didn't even TELL ME! I got my CC bill and was like what the heck!

Stay away from Gate VPS. I'm a veteran server administrator, and I can assure you they had an issue and did something to fix it, but charged me $15 x 3 = $45.00 for three emails over a few hours that were one line each.

I called and tried to reason with them. They wouldn't budge. I explained to them that they were about to lose a customer for life, and they "noted the account."

They are obnoxious and they are now out of my life!

Amex is doing a chargeback. This is not fair. And BTW I have proof from other clients that they couldn't access the control panel either. That means that even if I'm not a good administrator or I'm in a cloud - the system was DOWN.

I understand that unmanaged servers sometimes incur support charges. No problem. At least #1 inform me that there is a charge and allow me to approve it and #2 don't charge $15.00 per email unless I know it.

Had I known this issue would cost me $45.00, I'd have taken the two sites on it off and moved elsewhere.
