Check Web Hosting is a project initiated by us, Victor Ng and Alvin Lee. We are engineers by day, freelance web designers by night. We hail from Malaysia, but are currently residing elsewhere (Victor in Singapore; Alvin in Australia). As we were building websites since 1999, we had to source for good web hosts for our clients, whom each had different budget and requirement. From our experience, we found that most web host reviews were not reliable.
Here's why:

Some web host reviews are sponsored reviews.
They are paid to give good reviews and ratings, through advertisement or monetary reward.

Some web host reviews are from one individual.
Web host reviews solely based on one individual's experience (e.g. Editor Review) may show partiality.

Some web host reviews are with little or no moderation.
Some reviews are fishy, and may sound as they are from the web host companies itself. There is no evidence if they were from real users.
Knowing these facts in web hosting review sites, Check Web Hosting is launched to provide a trustworthy and reliable source for web hosting reviews. Most importantly, Check Web Hosting is to help other users which honest web host to trust, which bad web host to avoid. With all reviews submitted by users themselves, it will greatly help achieving the goal of Check Web Hosting.
Bullet-proof Review Moderation
Ok, maybe it's just a little over exaggerated, but since its implementation, we have found this algorithm to be powerful. In general, below are the methods we moderate our reviews. You may click on each of them to find out more.
Verification Methods - By Domain Name Server (DNS) and/or Proof of Account.
Rating Weights - Different weights on ratings.
Review Tags - Tag reviews as Verified, Not Verified, Fake.
Rated/Unrated Reviews - Combining the power of rated and unrated reviews.
